About Us

Atlanta’s Jazz Station Jazz 91.9 WCLK is more than a radio station; it is a cultural touchstone. Since 1974, we have served as Atlanta’s primary source for Jazz, Gospel, and Soul, acting as both a beacon of light and an anchor of stability for the communities we serve.

WCLK continues to operate as a member/underwriter-supported station licensed to Clark Atlanta University and serves as Atlanta's primary source for Jazz music. Broadcasting 24 hours a day, we reach over 100,000 weekly listeners across the Atlanta metro area. We continue to grow a global audience through our digital platforms, including the Jazz 91.9 WCLK App.

A Storied Legacy
WCLK’s journey began on April 10, 1974, when the first notes of Ramsey Lewis’ version of Maiden Voyage hit the Atlanta airwaves and the station was launched by students and faculty, licensed as a public radio station to what was then Clark College, today Clark Atlanta University.

Over the years, our studios at the AUC Robert W. Woodruff Library have hosted legends including Sonny Rollins, Nancy Wilson, and Wynton Marsalis. We take pride in having introduced the world to talents like Grammy-Winners India Arie and Gregory porter, Lizz Wright and Ledisi long before they reached the national stage. We have supported and nurtured local Jazz musicians and the Atlanta Jazz community. Today, as we celebrate over 50 years of service, WCLK remains a multi-year "Best Jazz Radio Station" winner as voted by the people of Atlanta.
