The Annual Providence Baptist Church Community Fall Festival will take place Saturday, October 7th, from 11 AM to 5 PM on the church grounds, located in downtown College Park at 1773 Hawthorne Ave, just two blocks north of the College Park MARTA Station. In addition to a tradition of being a blessing to the community with gift cards, cash and prizes, there will be affordable fun for the entire family with entertainment, dance performances, great gospel and jazz music, food, games, a farmer’s market, vendors & artists. The theme for this year’s festival is “Providence Strong”, a reflection of the resiliency of God’s Church getting through the pandemic and continuing to be a beacon of hope and help for the community.
Performing on Center Stage will be Jazz Recording Artist, William Green. The entertainment lineup will include Atlanta’s premier African American Dance Company, Ballethnic, the beautiful Metro Atlanta African Dancers and Drummers and the award winning, line dancing champions, The Beulah Boys. Festival goers will enjoy The Best Of Providence with great gospel performances by the Clark Family, Latoya Freemen and the Providence “House Band” under the direction of Charles Nesbit, III. Christian rapper, Wizdom will be performing his latest Christian Hip Hop release. There will be a special performance by the Riverdale High School Chorus under the direction of Christina Smith. Back by popular demand will be the crowd-pleasing, High School Drumline Competition. Hosting the show will be DJ Radikal.
The “Kids Zone” will offer a day of free fun for children with face painting by Cuz the Clown, games, pony rides, an ice cream social, train rides, moon walks, free popcorn & cotton candy. A game truck will provide free video game enjoyment. The food at this event is legendary. The Deacon’s Fish Fry, the Missions Ministry Bake Shop, an Ice Cream truck and the food pavilion, serving everyone’s festival food favorites will not disappoint. And of course, there is a farmer’s market featuring locally grown produce provided by the Hyman Agricultural Company.
Founded in 1883, Providence Baptist Church is over 1,300 members strong and has been a member of the College Park Community for 25 years, moving from South Atlanta to the Hawthorne facility in 1998. Reverend Charles E. Nesbitt, Jr., Pastor of Providence Baptist Church since 1985 is committed to “Moving the church beyond the walls, by bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the surrounding communities”.
