Jazz 91.9 WCLK would like to acknowledge the passing of one of our long-time supporters, alumnus, CAU Board of Trustees and friend - Thomas W. Dortch, Jr.

He passed away yesterday evening (Wednesday, February 15). Mr. Dortch was a huge supporter of WCLK and public radio and participated in our Signature Serenades competitions during our fall and spring membership campaigns. He loved the station and our unique programming.

"In the 'City Too Busy to Hate' Thomas W. Dortch Jr. was never too busy to give of his time, his finances, knowledge and wisdom for the benefit of others," says Kerwin D. Sims, WCLK Membership Director. "Periodically I would call on Tommy to raise money for WCLK during one of our annual membership campaigns. He never refused and even when his schedule was tight, made time to stop by and support the station. He was gracious, kind and always eager to help elevate Jazz music and WCLK."

"Thomas (Tommy) Dortch, as he was known to many' we thank you for your service to all," says WCLK General Manager Wendy Williams. "Tommy touched so many lives with his gracious and selfless manner. As busy as he was helping others in business and in life, he was never to busy to help Jazz 91.9 WCLK during our membership drives. Last June, he won the Signature Serenade competition during our membership drive by raising the most money ever during a two hour time slot. Tommy put his heart into everything he endeavored."

Mr. Dortch was very active through his company, TWD Inc. and through his involvement with the Atlanta Business League and the 100 Black Men of America. He was also a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
