Clark Atlanta University (CAU) jazz music legend and Professor James H. Patterson, along with the Clark Atlanta University Alumni and Students Jazz Orchestra, presents From Beethoven to Duke Ellington, a tribute concert and birthday celebration honoring the iconic jazz musician and composer.
Duke Ellington was a part of the CAU family. Fifty years ago, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by Clark College president Dr. Vivian Henderson and Florence Crim Robinson, chairman of the Music Department and Division of Humanities in 1973. This honor was the dream of Dr. Patterson, who worked closely with Ellington.
