MAY 12-14: Atlanta Ballet presents 'Significant Others' at Cobb Energy Centre

The Atlanta Ballet is back at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre this Mother's Day weekend for a new production, Significant Others. The show's theme, "Art meets Love" features new works from acclaimed choreographers Claudia Schreier, Remy Wortmeyer and Ben Stevenson. Check out a preview of each new work below and CLICK HERE for tickets and more information.

Carnivale

A world premiere

Choreography by Claudia Schreier

Music by Joaquin Rodrigo

Atlanta Ballet choreographer-in-residence Claudia Schreier's signature style and movement vocabulary - thoughtful, musical vocabulary and bold, colorful design - will be on display in this world premiere. Schreier's latest creation for the Company is a festive, jubilant modern ballet.

Supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.

Three Preludes

Choreography by Ben Stevenson

Music by Sergei Rachmaninoff

A beloved classic of ballet's modern era first performed in 1969, Three Preludes is a romantic pas de deux that tells the story of two dancers who fall in love while working in the studio. Using only a barre, a piano, and two dancers, the ballet is an emotional journey from low, slow brushes of flirtation to high, soaring lifts of passion. A live performance of Rachmaninoff's piano preludes will accompany the dancers.

Significant Others

A world premiere

Choreography by Remi Wörtmeyer

Music by Fanny Mendelssohn

What do we mean by “significant other?” It can be a spouse or a romantic partner, but it can also be a business partner, a sibling, or a parent. Significant Others highlights the music of Fanny Mendelssohn and the artwork of Sonia Delaunay, both accomplished artists who have often been overlooked as the "other halves" of their more famous male collaborators. Wörtmeyer believes that artists achieve their greatest potential by inspiring and supporting each other as equals, particularly when bound together by the the powerful force we call love.

Underwritten by the Council for Quality Growth, in honor of Carol Tomé.
