The stars aligned on Wednesday evening for the Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation "Legacy of Love" Gala. The black tie affair took place at the luxurious St. Regis Hotel in Buckhead and was in celebration of what would have been Whitney’s 60th Birthday.
“Whitney60” was hosted by WSB-TV’s Karyn Greer and featured a who’s who list of music titans like Multi-Platinum Grammy and Emmy Award-winning producer Narada Michael Walden and Houston’s musical director and Emmy Award-winning Producer, Rickey Minor. Gospel greats BeBe Winans and Kim Burrell performed their versions of Whitney classics while Honorary Chairperson and living legend Clive Davis and Grammy Award-winning Producer David Foster saluted the late singer through virtual tributes.
Other salutes throughout the evening came from the Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason, Jr. and Whitney’s brother Gary Houston.
The Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation is a continuation of the singer’s first non-profit organization (The Whitney Houston Foundation) and aims to “Rebuild lives, Restore self-esteem and Repair images through grassroots programs and initiatives for the Youth.” Foundation President and executor of the Whitney E. Houston Estate, Dr. Pat Houston presented a scholarship to the Living Live Foundation, a non-profit organization that empowers BIPOC creatives in the arts and culture. Founder/CEO and CAU Mass Media Arts alumnus Jordan Live was there to accept the $15,000 grassroots grant for their "Lighting the Way" youth mentoring program.
