Tyler Perry hosts ATL Screening of Prime Video's Maxine's Baby: The Tyler Perry Story

The stars aligned on Wednesday evening as entertainment mogul Tyler Perry hosted an Atlanta screening of his new Prime Video movie Maxine's Baby: The Tyler Perry Story. The star-studded event took place at the historic Rialto Center for the Performing Arts and featured a bevy of popular television, film and reality series stars including Eva Marcille, Chrystal Renee Hayslett, DeVon Franklin and DaBrat.

Maxine's Baby: The Tyler Perry Story takes a deeper look into Perry's humble beginning growing up in New Orleans, LA and under the tyranny of an often overly abusive father. The aspiring playwright eventually packed his dreams and found refuge in Atlanta, which ultimately became the launch pad for his unconventional stage, television and film career. Atlanta is also where Perry birthed his most memorable character—-MADEA.

In addition, Maxine’s Baby is also a nod to his late mother, Willie Maxine Perry and an intimate portrait of his harrowing but faithful road to the top of an industry that didn’t always include him. The film took 10 years to make and is directed by actress and model Gelila Bekele and filmmaker Armani Ortiz.

Check out the trailer below and click here to watch Perry talk about this film's journey in his own words with the evening's host Kenny Burns.

Maxine's Baby: The Tyler Perry Story debuts on Prime Video Friday, November 17.
