Wendy F. Williams honored as 'Radio Legend' at Friends of Georgia Radio Celebration

WCLK's General Manager Wendy F. Williams was among the "Radio Legends" Class of 2024 presented by the Friends of Georgia Radio this past Saturday night. The 3rd Annual Celebration took place at the City Springs Performing Arts Center and was hosted by former Fox 97 Morning Radio personalities, Randy Cook and Spiff Carner.

Wendy was one of seven luminaries recognized for their immeasurable contributions to Georgia radio and media. The other honorees include Steve Craig, Bobby Ellerbee, Bob Helbush, Brady McGraw, Pete Spriggs, and Howard Toole. Other highlights during the evening included scholarships presentations to rising Georgia students pursuing careers in radio and media.

In addition to becoming a "Radio Legend," Wendy is celebrating thirty years as WCLK's General Manager. Under her leadership, WCLK expanded its global reach by becoming one of the first radio stations to live stream their on-air programming in 1997. She increased the station's local imprint by combining its antenna with Cumulus Media on their American Tower, formerly Richland Tower. More recently, Wendy founded and executive produced the first-ever Jazz Music Awards in North American in October 2022. The show ran locally on GPB and nationally on PBS Passport.

Kudos to Wendy and all of the honorees.
