WCLK adds Pat Prescott's 'Favorite Things' to Sunday Evening Programming

Clark Atlanta University public radio station Jazz 91.9 WCLK welcomes legendary radio personality Pat Prescott and her hugely popular “Favorite Things” program to the station’s Sunday afternoon lineup of classical jazz. “Favorite Things” will debut this Sunday, September 8 at 4p.m. and replaces “Café Jazz” hosted by the late Gene Knight, who passed away in 2022. The show is between Debb Moore’s “Sunday Jazz Suite” and Christian McBride’s “Jazz Night in America.”

“In my nearly 50 years in radio I have been blessed with many wonderful opportunities,” says Prescott in a statement. “First of all I have survived all the radical changes in broadcasting during that period plus I've worked in three of the finest cities in America; New Orleans, New York and Los Angeles. Today I couldn't be more excited about adding a fourth amazing location as I prepare to debut my new radio program on WCLK in Atlanta. It's a city that means a lot to me because I have so many friends and family members here and because it's one of the most exciting hubs in the country for media and entertainment. I'm proud to have Favorite Things joining the stellar lineup at this heritage radio station. I can't wait to spend three hours with you every Sunday beginning on September 8th.”

Prescott has enjoyed a long career in radio starting at the New Orleans-based WYLD-FM. She also worked at Nola’s legendary rock station WNOE before moving to New York as the midday voice of WRVR. She would later go on to work for the iconic WBLS, WLIB, The National Black News Network and contemporary jazz station CD 101.9. In 2001, Prescott moved to Los Angeles to co-host the morning show at 94.7 The Wave with saxophonist Dave Koz, who left after 6 years and was replaced by singer-songwriter Brian McKnight. She recently retired from The Wave. Prescott returned to radio in 2022, as the host of “Favorite Things” on WBGO in New Jersey. She is also an adjunct professor at Santa Monica College's Center for Media and Design.

"We are thrilled to have such a legendary voice join our ‘CLK family," says Wendy F. Williams, General Manager of WCLK. “She is a veteran who has stood the test of time and brings a wealth of knowledge about this music, media and so much more. I can’t wait to tune in on Sunday at 4pm for what I know is going to be three hours of dynamic jazz.”

“When I approached Steve Williams (Pres:/CEO WBGO) about bringing Pat and her show to WCLK I was excited they agreed and saw the vision," says David C. Linton, Program Director for WCLK. “Favorite Things" is in line with the 50 year tradition of WCLK bringing quality jazz programming to Atlanta and now via our app & WCLK.com our global audience. Pat is a longtime friend and legendary broadcaster who I've known since her days at New York's WBLS & CD 101. I was a fan before we became friends. I've seen her win in the two biggest radio markets New York (WBLS/CD 101/WBGO)& Los Angeles (The Wave) and I'm confident our audience in Atlanta will embrace her too as she mixes great music and storytelling for 3 hours of great radio."
