Join WCLK on Friday, June 20 from 6pm until 10pm for Friday Jazz at the High. This month's featured musical guest is Ryan Kilgore. WCLK's Jamal Ahmad will serve as the evening's host.
In addition to the music, Friday Jazz patrons will get to enjoy the following exhibitions: Kim Chong Hak, Painter of Seoraksan and Ryoji Ikeda: data-verse.
Decatur, Georgia native Ryan Kilgore comes from a family tradition of saxophonists and is proud to be a 4th generation carrying on the legacy. His educational journey took him through Southwest DeKalb High School and Clark Atlanta University, where he honed his musical skills. It's where he not only learned the notes but also discovered his passion for the saxophone. Over the years, his saxophone has taken him on an incredible journey, performing on 6 continents and gracing the stages of over 100 prestigious arenas worldwide with such artists as Stevie Wonder, Patti LaBelle and Anita Baker. This journey has transformed Ryan into an international saxophonist and philanthropist, and is celebrating over 25 years in the entertainment industry. In 2015, he founded the Ryan Kilgore Music Foundation with a mission close to his heart - to mentor, teach, and inspire.
His motto is simple but powerful: “Every Person has a Passion, Every Passion has a Purpose, and Every Purpose has a Person.”
