FEBRUARY 26: CAU's Philharmonic Society Presents 'Harmonies of Heritage' at 7pm

The Clark Atlanta University (CAU) Philharmonic Society proudly presents Harmonies of Heritage, an evening of powerful, soul-stirring music honoring the brilliance, resilience, and enduring influence of Black composers. This concert serves as both a tribute to the giants who paved the way and a celebration of history still being written.

Harmonies of Heritage is a love letter to Black composers and the cultural legacy that continues to shape the American and global soundscape. The program will feature masterful works by acclaimed composers and arrangers including Moses Hogan, Richard Smallwood, and Florence Price, among others whose artistry has profoundly influenced choral, sacred, orchestral, and contemporary music traditions.

Through rich harmonies, spiritual depth, and dynamic storytelling, the Philharmonic Society will guide audiences on a journey that reflects both the struggle and triumph embedded in the Black musical experience. From concert halls to sanctuaries, from spirituals to symphonic works, this performance embodies excellence rooted in heritage.

As the culmination of Black History Month, Harmonies of Heritage stands as a reminder that Black music is not confined to a moment in history — it is history in motion. This is more than a concert; it is a celebration of cultural legacy, artistic genius, and the next generation of musicians carrying the torch forward.
