Acclaimed Jazz Vocalist, Nnenna Freelon will perform a special selection of songs with her Jazz trio in tribute to female Jazz vocalists on Sunday, October 2 at 3:00 p.m. The event is part of activities for the National Black Arts Festival (NBAF) and takes place at Georgia State's Rialto Center for the Arts.
Rivablue radio personality on Jazz 91.9 WCLK, TV host and Jazz singer will introduce Freelon. As well, Riva will engage with her in a post-performance conversation about Jazz, her accomplishments and current and future projects. An Evening with Nnenna Freelon includes a special finale performance of Freelon’s anthem “One Child at a Time” found on her “Soulcall” recording by a local choir.
A versatile and multi-talented performer, in 2014 Freelon starred in the critically acclaimed show “Georgia on My Mind: Celebrating the Music of Ray Charles” at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. She has toured with Ray Charles, as well as many other great Jazz artists including Ellis Marsalis, Al Jarreau, George Benson and others. She most recently produced and acts in the touring multimedia production, The Clothesline Muse.
