The 2017 Atlanta Jewish Music Festival is back and kicks-off, Thursday, March 2 at The City Winery Atlanta with David BuchBinder's Odessa/Havana. The award-winning trumpeter and composer teams up with a crew of top Jazz and world musicians to present an exhilarating, unprecedented project of musical discovery: the Jewish-Cuban connection.
Buchbinder’s Odessa/Havana presents “delicately textured and dazzlingly tuneful music, with powerful, swinging and lyrical playing,” that is “Passionate, dancing and completely irresistible.” Arising out of the musical ferment of the most diverse city on the planet (Toronto), this truly original sound is a collaboration between the writing of Buchbinder and Grammy-nominated Cuban piano master Hilario Duran, and the band of killer musicians. Together, these forces take audiences on a journey of cross-cultural discovery, that consistently engages, challenges and delights.
In addition to Odessa/Havana, this year's Eigth Annual Atlanta Jewish Music Festival (AJMF8) will also feature a Hunger Walk, a Young Adult Purim Party and more.
AJMF’s mission is to grow community and celebrate our heritage through year-round performance events and dynamic learning programs for the Southeast region and takes place March 2-19, 2017.
