UPFRONT featuring David E. Talbert, Brenda Nicole Moorer and Fabian Williams
Today's UPFRONT features my interviews with playwright and filmmaker David E. Talbert, jazz vocalist Brenda Nicole-Moorer and visual artist and activist Fabian Williams.
David E. Talbert is teaming up with EGOT performer John Legend and Netflix for their first ever live-action musical titled Jingle Jangle. Talbert talked to us about his search for the project's star and how aspiring actresses between the ages of 9-13 can audition. Click here for Casting information.
Jazz vocalist Brenda Nicole Moorer is collaborating with pianist Kenny Banks Jr. and composer Troy Miller for a new album titled The Marrow. It features 25 of Atlanta's top millenial jazz artists and will also be accompanied by a feature film. Click here to find out more about the project and to see where Brenda is performing around Atlanta.
Closing out the show is my exclusive with visual artist and activist Fabian Williams. His mural of outspoken NFL star Colin Kaepernick was destroyed the Friday before last Sunday's Super Bowl. The incident went viral and inspired Williams to create seven new murals of the sports star. It also caused a lot of social media dialogue about activism, art and Atlanta. Williams is also joined in the interview by his manager Ash Nash and fellow artist Nells Guzman.
We also celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Motown by featuring the music from its biggest stars Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross and the Supremes and Marvin Gaye.
UPFRONT airs every Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and is hosted by Ray Cornelius.
