This weekend's edition of UPFRONT Inside Atlanta's Entertainment Industry is filled with #BlackStarPower. It features my conversations with writer and director Janet Mock, Hollywood actors Jeremy Pope and Laura Harrier. It also features noted film critic Carla Renata and All Day and a Night actors Jeffrey Wright and Ashton Sanders plus writer/director Joe Robert Cole.
Ryan Murphy has teamed up with transformative rockstar Janet Mock for a retelling of tinsel town's golden age in the new Netflix series, Hollywood. I caught up with Ms. Mock along with series stars Jeremy Pope and Laura Harrier to discuss their roles and the show's theme of diversity and inclusion during the 1940s
Accomplished film critic, Broadway diva, author and TV actress Carla Renata is here with this week's AAFCA suggestions for TV, film and documentaries. She and I talk in-depth about the new Hollywood series and American Playboy: The Hugh Hefner Story. She also opens up about the current showbusiness landscape within the COVID-19 pandemic and more. Watch our full conversation below:
Closing out the show is my conversation with actors Jeffrey Wright and Ashton Sanders. The two are headlining Joe Robert Cole's new Netflix drama, All Day and a Night. The film follows the story of an imprisoned youth who confronts his father and recalls the people, places, and circumstances that put them both on a path of crime. I talked to the fellas about their own life's influences and the film's complicated take away message.
