This week's edition of UPFRONT Inside Atlanta's Entertainment Industry features ELEVATE ATL curator Leatrice Ellzy, AAFCA member and journalist Ronda Penrice and the men of Lovecraft Country---Jonathan Majors and Michael K. Williams.
The City of Atlanta Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs presented the ELEVATE ATL Festival all week long and this year's curator, Leatrice Ellzy, is here to chat about the last day of activities including a bevy of musical performances. She'll also discuss this year's social justice theme as well as a much-deserved spotlight on the city's historic West End neighborhood.
I also continue my conversation with the cast of HBO's breakout hit series Lovecraft Country. This week features Jonathan Majors and Michael K. Williams. The conversation is part of a recent AAFCA Virtual Roundtable Discussion.
Closing out the show is my conversation with AAFCA member and noted journalist Ronda Penrice. She's here to discuss Hollywood's newest obession with #BlackHorror and a cadre of new film projects releasing this month including https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmrTRblGeKw">Bad Hair and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFB-xzamOQM">Spell. She'll also discuss her AJC article on rising starlet Danielle Deadwyler and why Motown's Mahogany is still as relevant today as it was 45 years ago.
