Jan. 30: Bring Winter Clothing For Atlanta Union Mission To Braves FanFest
On the Saturday, January 30 edition of The Local Take, we are talking Atlanta Braves with Ericka Newsome-Hill, director of community affairs for the Braves. We are discussing the upcoming FanFest, a celebration of the final season at Turner Field and kick-off for the 2016 Braves season.
Atlanta Braves fans of all ages are invited to Turner Field on Saturday, January 30 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. for family fun, stadium tours, a winter clothing drive and a Braves Yard Sale! Admission is free. The Braves have partnered with the Atlanta Union Mission and encourage fans to donate new or gently used winter clothing: coats, books, gloves, scarves, hats, blankets, socks, long sleeve shirts, long pants, sweaters, umbrellas and/or ponchos.
Ericka shares with us that there will be activities for the entire family including story times for children hosted by former and current Braves players. Older children will have an opportunity to participate in a press conference where they get to ask the players the hard questions.
In addition, there will be a Turner Field Yard Sale, with the Braves moving 12 miles north in 2017 this will be a great way to get memorabilia from the "old" ball park. The yard sale will include items like: pictures, bats, t-shirts, souvenirs and maybe even an old uniform or two. Ericka assures us that the Atlanta Braves will continue their community support in Atlanta including the Baseball Academy at the Carver YMCA.
So gather up the family and friends to join in the last FanFest held at Turner Field on Saturday, January 30 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
