As part of The Local Take's ongoing conversation on men and health we speak with Jacqueline Brown from the Empowerment Resource Center.
Ms. Brown explains to us that their organization originally started to support women, but quickly found that women needed someone to support their men. The Empowerment Resource Center now has more men clients than women. This community resource located at 100 Edgewood Avenue, NE, #1020 in Atlanta, Georgia provides an intimate setting for their clients to discuss mental and physical health challenges. They provide a holistic approached to healthcare with the understanding that some challenges exist due to poor decision making which may stem from traumatic experiences that haven't been addressed.
Ms. Brown explains that when women are hurt they turn on themselves, but that when men are hurt they turn on others.
