Cordy Tindell "C. T." Vivian 1924-2020

Jazz 91.9 WCLK mourns the passing and celebrates the life of Civil Rights Icon C. T. Vivian, who has passed away early this morning at age 95. He was one of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s valued lieutenants in the civil rights and voting rights struggles of the 1960's and he kept at the task after King's assassination in 1968, including a period leading the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Vivian was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2013 by President Barack Obama. C. T. Vivian was a friend of WCLK, too. He most recently joined Kiplyn Primus for The Local Take in the Spring of 2016 to talk about the C. T. Vivian Health Fair at the Interdenomiational Theological Seminary. You can read more about Vivian's remarkable life by clicking on Ernie Suggs' piece in the AJC here.
