Mosaic Images

The 18th Annual Duke Pearson Summer Jazz Camp takes place M0nday-Friday June 8-12 at the Clark Atlanta University Park Street Music and Arts Complex. This camp, started by CAU Professor Dr. James Hardy Patterson in honor of his friend and colleague Duke Pearson, offers elementary through high school students a variety of approaches to performing jazz and other African American expressions.

For additional information about attending or volunteering for this great annual summertime event you can call 404-880-8208.

Duke Pearson was a native Atlantan and Clark College graduate who made a reputation as a pianist, composer and producer, particularly for Blue Note Records 1960s hard bop era.

WCLK Intern Shenequa Crockett spoke with Dr. Patterson in advance of this year's Duke Pearson Summer Jazz Camp for the WCLK Public Affairs Block.

More information about the music of Duke Pearson is available from Blue Note by clicking here.
