'Emory University Jazz Festival' to feature Bob Mintzer and more

Saxophonist Bob Mintzer, a 28-year member of the Grammy Award–winning Yellowjackets, is what's known as a triple-threat musician. He is equally active in the areas of performance, composing/arranging, and music e?d?u?c?a?t?i?o?n.

The New York native takes the stage with the Gary Motley Trio to kick off Emory University’s Jazz Fest 2020 on Friday, February 7 at 8:00 p.m. Mintzer is joined by pianist and band leader Gary Motley, bassist Kenny Davis and, percussionist Emrah Kotan.  

Jazz Fest classes and events run Thursday, February 6 to Saturday, February, 8, 2020 in the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts.  The class schedule includes a Lecture/Demonstration with Bob Mintzer and the Gary Motley Trioon Thursday, February 6 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. + a Master Class/Clinic with Bob Mintzeron Saturday, February 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Both classes are FREE and open to the public. 

Closing out the Emory University Jazz Festival is "Big Band Night" featuring Gary Motley, Kenny Davis and Emrah Kotan. The evening will include everything from Ellington and Basie to the works of today's stellar arrangers.
