The Breman Museum presents another Zoom Arts Talk TONIGHT at 7 p.m. titled Jews and Jazz: A Discussion of the impact of Jews on the Jazz Scene. It features Gary Motley, Emory University Professor of Performance and founding Director of Jazz Studies and Dr. Gordon Vernick, Professor of Music and Coordinator of Jazz Studies at Georgia State University.
They will discuss the contributions to jazz and American popular music from George Gershwin, Ira Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, Yip Harburg, Richard Rogers, Oscar Hammerstein, Harold Arlen and Arthur Schwartz and more. Click here to register.
The conversation is in celebration of the Breman Museum's current exhibition, A Jazz Memoir: Photography by Herb Snitzer, which features classic black and white images of jazz icons Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone, Miles Davis and many, many more.
