#UPFRONT featuring the creatives behind the Yin Yang Cafe documentary, 'Spring & 3RD'

Check out this week's edition of UPFRONT Inside the Entertainment Industry. It features the creative team behind the new musical documentary Spring & 3RD. The 90-minute film follows the birth and evolution of Atlanta's Black arts movement of the early 1990s.

The Yin Yang Music Cafe, located in the heart of the city at Spring and 3rd streets, provided a safe space for burgeoning talent to display their artistry. It also served as a spring board for musical mitfits who would later emerge as superstars of the iconic "Underground Soul Music" scene of the late 90s/early 2000s.

Many of these artists include India.Arie, Khari Cabral Simmons, Anthony David, Joi, Donnie, David Banner, Bone Crusher, and Dr. Fahamu Pecou.

Spring & 3RD director Malik Salaam and executive producers Tommy Bottoms, Kemi Bennings and Derreck "Abyss" Graham recall this special time in our city's history and much more.

ELEVATE Atlanta Arts Festival presents a FREE screening of Spring & 3RD on Friday, October 15 at 7 p.m. at the Westside Cultural Arts Center. The evening also features a live performance from Yin Yang Music Cafe stars The Chronicle.
