Director, writer and producer D. Channsin Berry is back with an amazing new documentary titled Dark Girls 2. It is a follow up to his critically claimed 2011 documenatry Dark Girls, which examines colorism within the African American community. This much deserved sequel follow's the journey of several dark-skinned women beyond the U.S. borders and the healing they seek from the racial prejudices they've endured from other Black people. Berry opens up about the inspiration behind the project, what he learned while visiting Ghana and a timely message to Black men and how we can help Black women heal. Dark Girls 2 aired on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) is availabe for now your viewing pleasure on Oprah.com.
Atlanta teen sensation Temple Lester talks about her new documentary film Shirley Chisholm: The Good Fight. The 10-minute movie is among a select group of middle and high school student to have their National History Day documentaries screened by the Smithsonian Learning Lab. Temple chats about creating the film and why Shirley Chisholm is still an inspiration to little girls everywhere.
Closing out the show is my #exclusive with Greenleaf star Deborah Joy Winans. The popular OWN series debuted this past Tuesday night and is in its fifth and final season. Winans opens up about her character "Charity Greenleaf" as well as her desires for the upcoming Greenleaf spin-off and what lies ahead for her career after the show. Greenleaf airs every Tuesday evening at 9 p.m EST.
