The Atlanta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority presents a Pre-Centennial Fashion Show
The Atlanta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated was issued a charter for the Sigma Chapter in 1924. This was the first chapter established in the state of Georgia. They will host a series of events to fund scholarships leading up to their centennial celebration. One of their first events will be a Fashion Show featuring local models and appearances by former Ebony Fashion Fair models. This event will occur at Atlanta Symphony Hall on Sunday, April 16th, at 4PM. We are speaking with Andrea Morgan, president of the Atlanta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Incorporated, for more information on this event.
Morgan tells us about her sorority and its origins, founded on the campus of Howard University in 1913. She mentions that members of the organization participated in the Women’s Suffrage March a few months after its founding.
I asked Morgan about the Centennial Celebration taking place in 2024. She shares that the Sigma Chapter is still active at Clark Atlanta University. She speaks to the organization’s 99-year history of service around economic development and social action.
Their Pre-Centennial Fashion Show taking place on April 16th, will be in the spirit of the classic Ebony Fashion Fair shows. Morgan explains this is a multi-generational event that the entire family can enjoy. She also invites fashionistas along with fashion and design students.
All funds raised at the show will go towards scholarships in our community.
Morgan also shares that they are hosting a Health Fair on April 22nd
