Pamela Perkins-Carn a convener for the Ending Mass Incarceration Network in Georgia joins us to garner support for their work in the 2025 Legislative session. Perkins Carn shares that they are supporting Justice Day at the Capitol on February 25th and ask that concerned citizens register at Justice Reform Partnership or come to Central Presbyterian Church to join them at 8AM.
The EMI Georgia network has been focused on ending the preschool-to-prison pipeline. For the 2025 legislative session, they are working to correct a funding challenge in a policy passed in 2014. CHINS or Children In Need of Services is a court-based approach to working with children who have committed status offenses. Even though the mandate passed it wasn’t funded. They are working with Representative Kim Schofield to get funding for the mandate. Perkins Carn asked everyone to reach out to their elected officials to support Justice Reform in our state.
