UPFRONT featuring TV & Film Actor LEON plus Jazz Vocalist and Actress SOMI

Chris Schwagga

This week's edition of UPFRONT Inside Atlanta's Entertainment Industry features iconic television and film actor LEON and we're celebrating Women's History Month (WHM) with Grammy-Nominated singer SOMI.

LEON is back on the big screen in the new-action thriller A Day to Die. The film stars Kevin Dillon as Conner Connolly, an ex-military soldier who must team up with his former ops crew to save his kidnapped pregnant wife from Tyrone Pettis, played by LEON. The film also features action star Frank Grillo and screen legend, Bruce Willis.

We also talk to LEON about his classic films including The Temptations, Waiting to Exhale, Cool Runnings plus his reggae-soul band, Leon and the Peoples.

March is Women's History Month and UPFRONT is kicking things off with Grammy-Nominated songstress—-SOMI. She is here to chat about her new album, Zenzile: The Reimagination of Miriam Makeba, which dropped this week and celebrated what would have been her 90th birthday. The album also features a soulful duet with Gregory Porter titled "Love Tastes Like Strawberries" as well as her take on "House of the Rising Sun" and Makeba's classic "Pata Pata."

We also talk about her upcoming APOLLO Theater performance later on this month with special guest—-Dianne Reeves and more.
