UPFRONT featuring director Stacey DeWitt and her new film 'Defining Us: Children at the Crossroads of Change'

Check out the newest edition of UPFRONT/Inside Atlanta's Entertainment Industry.

The first segment features award-winning playwright Shay Youngblood and actors Jay Jones and Marliss Amiea from the new Horizon Theatre production, Square Blues. The show follows three generations of activists whose protesting could affect not just their freedom but their futures. Square Blues is directed by Thomas W. Jones II and is on stage now through August 21.

And in the second half of the show, we’re going behind-the-scenes with director and producer Stacey DeWitt and her upcoming documentary Defining Us: Children at the Crossroads of Change. The project takes audiences inside some of the nation’s largest school systems including Atlanta, New York and Los Angeles to see and hear the untold stories of educators fighting to protect students’ rights to have open conversations about race and other issues that impact their identity.
