UPFRONT featuring Jeremy Pope, Janelle Monae, Rian Johnson and Adam L. McKnight

Check out this week's edition of UPFRONT/Inside Atlanta's Entertainment Industry.

In our first segment, we're talking to Oscar nominated director Rian Johnson and Grammy-nominated singer and actress Janelle Monae about their upcoming Netflix drama, Glass Onion. The film is the second installment to the hugely popular Knives Out Mysteries. The story follows Detective Benoit Blanc to Greece to peel back the layers of a mystery involving a new cast of colorful suspects. This fresh adventure finds the intrepid detective at a lavish private estate on a Greek island, but how and why he comes to be there is only the first of many puzzles.

In our second segment, we're talking to Golden Globe nominee Jeremy Pope about his riveting performance in The Inspection. The movie is inspired by Elegance Bratton's deeply moving story, as a young, gay Black man, rejected by his mother and decides to join the Marines. He also does whatever it takes to succeed in a system that would cast him aside. But even as he battles deep-seated prejudice and the grueling routines of basic training, he finds unexpected camaraderie, strength, and support in this new community that will shape his identity and forever change his life. The conversation was part of an AAFCA Roundtable Discussion.

And closing out the show is multi-talented singer-songwriter, Adam L. McKnight. He’s here to chat about his Alliance Theatre production, A Gift of Love. The show features a musical journey through uplifting original songs, R&B classics, and holiday favorites. McKnight also draws from his experiences as a back-up vocalist and studio musician for the likes of Elton John, Stevie Wonder, and Diana Ross.

UPFRONT/Inside Atlanta Entertainment Industry is recorded from the campus of Clark Atlanta University and is hosted and produced by Ray Cornelius for WCLK 91.9.

The show re-airs on SiriusXM on Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays at 6:30mp EST.
