UPFRONT talks to the AJC's Matt Kempner, Ryon Horne and Tyson Horne about 'The Dancer'

Check out the most recent edition of UPFRONT/Inside the Entertainment Industry. We’re going behind-the-scenes of the Atlanta Journal and Constitution story titled, The Dancer: The beautiful and tragic life of Gerard Alexander.

The recent article put a spotlight on the tumultuous life of dance phenom Gerard Alexander, who was found shot to death in April of 2022 underneath an overpass bridge in Atlanta. Alexander’s career was filled with many highs including his appearance in the Michael Jackson’s “BAD” video and his iconic cover of a coffee table book on Black male dancers. But with those highs, came some lows including his addiction, prostitution, sexual abuse and mental health issues which culminated in Alexander being homeless and living in the bowels of Atlanta. Joining me to chat about Gerard’s life is the article's writer and award-winning AJC writer Matt Kempner along with award-winning AJC documentarians Ryon Horne and Tyson Horne.

UPFRONT/Inside the Entertainment Industry is produced and hosted by Ray Cornelius for Jazz 91.9 WCLK. The show re-airs on SiriusXM HBCU Channel 142 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 6:30pm EST. It is also presented by the High Museum of Art.
