UPFRONT with filmmaker Deborah C. Hoard and David C. Linton remembers Clarence Avant

Check out the most recent edition of UPFRONT/Inside the Entertainment Industry.

In the first segment, we’re catching up with filmmaker Deborah C. Hoard to chat about her new film, "Move When the Spirit Says Move: The Legacy of Dorothy Foreman Cotton." The documentary is coming to the BronzeLens Film Festival and chronicles the work of a bold yet unsung civil rights activist/educator and those carrying on her legacy. The film will debut as part of the festival’s "Cinema and Social Justice Sunday."

And in the second segment, we’re remembering the life and legacy of legendary music executive Clarence Avant. He passed away recently at the age of 92. WCLK Program Director and former music executive David C. Linton is here to chat about his fondest memories of Mr. Clarence Avant and why he was the "Black Godfather."

UPFRONT/Inside the Entertainment Industry is produced and hosted by Ray Cornelius for Jazz 91.9 WCLK. The show re-airs on SiriusXM HBCU Channel 142 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 6:30pm EST. It is also presented by the High Museum of Art.
