UPFRONT with Origin's Ava DuVernay + Alvin Ailey's Matthew Rushing

Check out this week's edition of UPFRONT/Inside the Entertainment Industry.

Host Ray Cornelius talks one-on-one with Oscar-nominated filmmaker Ava DuVernay. She's here to chat about her highly anticipated new film ORIGIN. The movie is based on the book, CASTE: The Origins of Our Discontentsby former Emory University Journalism professor Isabel Wilkerson and explores the mystery of history, the wonders of romance, and a fight for our future.

And in the second part of the show, Ray goes behind the scenes of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s new season with veteran dancer and Associate Artistic Director Matthew Rushing. The company’s national tour kicks off here in Atlanta January 25-27 and Rushing is here to discuss new works, fan favorites and the timeless Ailey classic Revelations.

Watch the video version of my conversation with Ava DuVernay below:

UPFRONT/Inside the Entertainment Industry is produced and hosted by Ray Cornelius for Jazz 91.9 WCLK. The show re-airs on SiriusXM HBCU Channel 142 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 6:30pm EST.
