Maysa: I Don't Mind

021023 Maysa I Dont Mind.jpg
Blue Velvet Soul Records

There are voices that come around ever so often that when you hear them you immediately know who they are. Think Aretha, Chaka, Nancy, Gladys--no last names needed-- well you can add Maysa to this prestigious group. I’m not saying she sings like Aretha, Chaka, Gladys or Nancy, I am saying that when she opens her mouth you distinctively know it’s Maysa. Well she’s back with I Don’t Mind (Blue Velvet Soul Records), a mid-tempo song that talks about moving forward with positivity. A song about unconditional love, something the world really needs. There are times when you have to live in the present and leave the past in the past in order to enjoy the now. This song sends that measure.

After developing a legion of fans with the group Incognito and creating a new legion of fans during the pandemic with her Kitchen Concerts Maysa’s back with something for the radio. You won’t mind when you hear this one coming out of your speakers. Checkout Maysa’s I Don’t Mind weekdays on The SOUL of Jazz with Jamal Ahmad Monday-Friday 2p-7p on Atlanta’s Jazz Station since 1974 Jazz 91.9 WCLK.

David C Linton is WCLK's Program Director. Since assuming the position in 2018, he's led Jazz 91.9 WCLK to record-setting ratings and expanded its listening audience. He reshuffled the Sunday Jazz offerings to provide a unique Mainstream Jazz listening experience on Sundays including the addition of Mainstream and Modern hosted by Rob Maynard. He also added Broadcast Hall of Famer Rick Joyner to the weekday line up as host of Serenade to the The City. He also programs WCLK's HD2 channel which offers Mainstream Jazz 24/7, available at wclk.com
