Vocalist Phil Perry is part of Saturday's WCLK At 50 Show at Stockbridge Ampitheater, talks about it with Jamal Ahmad

Phil Perry is a singer-songwriter-composer with a history of albums and performances going back decades, including time in the Soul group The Montclairs in the 1970s. He is one of the featured performers at the WCLK At 50 performance of Karen Briggs and her Contempo Orchestra, performing Saturday night July 6 at 8pm at the Stockbridge Ampitheater. Perry joined WCLK's Jamal Ahmad on The SOUL of Jazz to talk about his career, Saturday night's show, and to wish WCLK a happy 50th birthday. Some tickets are still available at stockbridgeamp.com. Karen Briggs is regarded as one of the greatest violinists of our time. She has been performing and composing for over four decades. Karen easily fits into various genres, including gospel, jazz, R&B, pop, hip hop and classical. This is evidenced by the wide variety of artists she has performed with, including Yanni and the Royal Philharmonic, Stanley Clarke, Diana Ross, Ledisi, Kirk Franklin, Annie Lennox, Keb Mo, Nasseer Shamma, Juan Sebastian, and the Wu-Tang Clan.

Regina Belle, the Academy Award-winning and multi-Gammy-winning singer, songwriter, and actress, will bring her unique vocals to the WCLK 50th Anniversary celebration. Her hits include Make It Like It Was, If I Could, Baby Come to Me, This Is Love, and God Is Good as well as her duet with Peabo Bryson, A Whole New World, which won the Grammy in 1994 for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group.

Oleta Adams’ sultry sound has inspired a growing legion of fans worldwide. Having recorded duets with Al Jarreau, David Sanborn, Toots Thielmans, Shirley Ceasar, and Tears for Fears, she has been a staple in soul, R&B, urban, and gospel music for over 50 years.

Tommy Davidson is known as a multi-faceted artist. He moves confidentially between stand-up comedy and acting worlds to critically Jazz duets with Dave Koz. He has worked with Earth, Wind, and Fire on his single, Stronger.
