Jazz 91.9 WCLK had the distinct pleasure of hosting an afternoon with Katherine Maher, President and CEO of National Public Radio (NPR) on Friday, December 6. Maher was visiting Atlanta as part of a national tour of NPR member stations since taking office in March of 2023. She was accompanied by Caroline Burke, NPR's Director of Impact and and Kiah Culver, NPR's Business Partnership Senior Manager.
Maher's visit included a meeting with Wendy F. Williams, WCLK's General Manager followed by a "Lunch and Learn" with WCLK staff and personalities. The interactive session was also attended by CAU faculty and staff as well as Dr. Charlene D. Gilbert, CAU Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs and Sam Burston, Vice President Special Assistant to the Provost for the Arts & External Engagement.
Following the luncheon, Maher jumped behind the mic with Williams to solicit memberships for the station's WCLK At 50 Calendar Year End Membership Campaign during the S.O.U.L. of Jazz show with Jamal Ahmad (Click here to watch the full conversation).
Afterwards, Maher took photos with the WCLK staff and personalities.
