Today's UPFRONT is dedicated to the life and legacy of iconic filmmaker John Singleton who passed away this week. His friend and colleague Gil Robertson from the African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) is here to chat about his career, memorable moments and much more.
I'll also be playing music from jazz icon Stanley Clarke, who appeared on the soundtracks of Boyz n the Hood, Poetic Justice and Higher Learning.
Award-winning director, actor and CAU Theater Professor Eric J. Little is here to chat about this week's Tony Award nominations. A good number of African Americans shows picked up nods including Ain't Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations and Choir Boy. In additon, Ain't Too Proud's Jeremy Pope and Dominique Morriseau also make history with their nominations.
UPFRONT airs every Saturday at 9 a.m. and is hosted by Ray Cornelius.
