Writing Through the Body: Turning Your Creative Writing Into an Embodied Practice with Beth Ward

Writing Through the Body: Turning Your Creative Writing Into an Embodied Practice with Beth Ward

The body is not antithetical to the intellect. The body is intelligent. The body is intelligence. And it has stories to tell you. In this four-week course, open to writers of all levels, we'll explore creative writing as an embodied practice, and dive deep into the ways in which our body's lived, sensory experiences are catalytic in our ability to tell successful, impactful stories. We'll explore themes such as “writing the erotic“ and “body as narrative framework,” and use the works of writers such as Audre Lorde, Lidia Yuknavitch, and Beth Ann Fennelly to learn about what it means to write through the body. We'll also write together each week, using generative, somatic writing prompts to put theory into practice.
