Free Educator Workshop with Dr. David Childs and Karyn Parsons

The National Center for Civil and Human Rights invites educators, homeschool families, parents, and community members to a free professional learning workshop.

Led by acclaimed professor, author, and filmmaker Dr. David Childs and actor, author, and activist Karyn Parsons (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Sweet Blackberry), this interactive workshop explores the intersection of civil rights history, storytelling, literature, and social justice education.

Participants will engage with multicultural literature and film, take part in guided discussions and writing activities, and examine practical approaches for fostering meaningful conversations about history, identity, and equity.

Attendees will leave with classroom-ready resources, lesson plans, historical research, and culturally responsive teaching strategies that can be immediately applied in educational and community settings.

This event is free, but registration is required.

Those who need or would like a certification card will be required to purchase a course handbook in order to become certified.

The Warrior Women Conference 2026: Realigned & Ready is a faith-filled gathering designed to encourage women to step away from the noise, draw closer to God, and realign their hearts with His purpose and will. Through powerful biblical teaching, worship, fellowship, and encouragement, women will be challenged to surrender their plans, embrace God’s direction, and be ready to move when He calls.

This year’s conference will feature Allison Speer, Christian recording artist and longtime performer featured on the Gaither Homecoming videos, and Sharie King of Clayton King Ministries, speaker, author, and Bible teacher.

College Workshop Series Presents
Mastering the College Application

ATLANTA – In recognition of our 8th Annual College Workshop Series, Barbara Lewis King Scholarship Foundation Inc. presents Mastering the College Application, a free virtual workshop scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. EDT
Join Patty DaSilva high school counseling and advisement consultant, for a dynamic virtual workshop on how to conquer the college application process from start to finish. Participants will learn tips for researching colleges, best ways to fill out the applications, organizing their process for dealing with the college application, and the best time to submit their applications.

About Patty DaSilva: Patty DaSilva is an experienced high school counselor and advisement consultant. She is an experienced school counselor, serving her entire career in the public
school systems. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Child/Family Development, Masters and Specialist degrees in school counseling and is currently pursuing her tier-1 leadership add on as well as a Doctor of Education in Professional Counseling and Supervision degree.
