WCLK Member Ceasar Mitchell Hold's 14th Annual College Prep Series For Area Students

Atlanta City Council President Ceasar C. Mitchell will hold his 14th semi-annual College Prep Series (CPS) Saturday, May 4th from 8:00 a.m. – Noon. The series is being hosted by Atlanta Technical College, 1560 Metropolitan Pkwy, Atlanta, Georgia 30310.

The spring 2013 College Prep Series scores back session is Thursday, May 15th from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. at Atlanta City Hall, 55 Trinity Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia 30303.

The CPS offers students a free opportunity to be exposed to college entrance exams in a simulated testing environment. Council President Mitchell is partnering with The Princeton Review to administer the practice college entrance exams. Through the partnership, students have an opportunity to take the PRA, an assessment that will help them determine whether they would test better on the ACT or the SAT. The format of the PSAT will remain the same

The spring CPS scores back session will offer some exciting updates and enhancements. In addition to receiving their exam scores, there will be number of speakers who are planning to speak directly to our youth. It will be an evening aimed at empowering our youth to aggressively pursue their dreams.

“I am proud of the continued enhancements we are making to the College Prep Series,” said Council President Mitchell. “We want the College Prep Series to be an on-going source of relevant and timely college preparatory information for our youth and their families.”

The College Prep Series is supported by The Princeton Review, Atlanta Technical College, Field of Dreams, Hojeij Branded Foods, Georgia Beverage Association, Fresh Treats Catering, The Scholarship Academy, the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library, Orange Business Services, and a number of community volunteers.

“We are fortunate to have committed sponsors and partners who help us accomplish the goals of the College Prep Series,” Mitchell added. “These fine organizations continue to make an investment in the future of our city through supporting the educational development of its youth.”

Students may register by calling 1-800-2Review (273-8439) and mentioning the Atlanta College Prep Series.

The College Prep Series is offered twice a year, in the fall and spring, to help students reach their higher education goals. The series exposes students to college entrance exams in a simulated test environment and provides feedback to them on their performance. Interested students are then connected with the resources needed to help improve their scores.
