The Local Take: Interfaith Children's Movement Day at the Capitol

Ending School to Prison Pipeline

On the Saturday, January 30 edition of The Local Take we speak with Bettianne Hart, board chair, Interfaith Children's Movement (ICM).   Hear our conversation in the 7:00 a.m. hour.  Their upcoming ICM Day at the Capitol happens on Wednesday, February 3, where they will lobby on behalf of the children in our community.

Ms. Hart shares with us information about Rachel's Law which was passed in 2015, and why our community should support the passage of  Senate Resolution 7 before this year's legislative session.   SR7 provides funding to support and implement Rachel's Law, properly.

We also speak about HB 135 in support of ending the suspension of children ages 4 - 8 (pre-kindergarten through Third grade). Over 14,000 children in our state ages 4-8 were suspended out of schools during the 2013-14 school year.

Click here to register and join Interfaith Children's Movement for a day at the Capitol on February 3 at 9:30 AM at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 265 Washington Street, SW in downtown Atlanta.   I hope to see you there.

After speaking with Ms. Hart, we reached out to Georgia Representative Wayne Howard to discuss his support of HB 135.
