On the Saturday, July 2 edition of The Local Take we  continue our political discussion with Dr. William Boone, Clark Atlanta University Political Science Professor.  We were also joined by Attorney Eunice Cho with the Southern Poverty Law Center.

We start with the recent Supreme Court Decisions.

On Affirmative Action: In a 4-3 decision, the Supreme Court of the United States has upheld the University of Texas' affirmative action program.

On Immigration: In a 4-4 tie, the Supreme Court left in place an lower court ruling that blocked programs

On Abortion Restrictions: The Supreme Court has overturned a Texas law requiring clinics that provide abortions to have surgical facilities and doctors to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital.

The upcoming political conventions are taking place in Cleveland for the Republicans and in Philadelphia for the Democrats and we discuss the future of both parties.

Turning back to our upcoming local primary run-offs we discuss the lack of participation fewer than 9% of registered voters are expected to participate in the July 26 vote. Early voting starts on July 5.
