Westside Future Fund, MLK Day Volunteer Opportunities On The Local Take
This week on The Local Take I speak with Justin Carr, Director of Partnerships for the Westside Future Fund. Carr explains how the Westside Future Fund came into being and the impact areas they serve which are Vine City, English Avenue, Ashview Heights and the Atlanta University Center.
To assist community retention, they are managing an Anti-Displacement Tax Fund. This will allow homeowners to "freeze" their property taxes at the rates in place when they apply.
Justin Carr also speaks about and invites our listeners to their bi-monthly meetings for the Westside communities that take place on the 1st and 3rd Fridays at 7am at the Gathering Spot.
Additionally, the Westside Future Fund is hosting several opportunities for service on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - Monday, January 15th.
Their Westside Volunteer Corps will host a College and Career Workshop at Booker T. Washington High School at 45 Whitehouse Drive from 10am - 1pm.
There is also an opportunity to participate in the Revitalization of The Bellwood Boys and Girls Club 777 Donald Lee Hollowell from 9am - 1pm.
