The Local Take Talks Power Rising Conference for Black Women

This week on The Local Take I speak with Leah Daughtry, one of the founders of the Power Rising conference taking place in Atlanta February 23  - 25 at Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel.

Leah shares with us how the conference came to be, explaining that they are reaching out to African American women who are the largest and most consistent voting block in the country.  Black women in the USA command 1.3 Trillion in spending power.

She speaks to the importance of gathering an inter-generational group of women to create, craft and build their own platform. We are not a monolith and all voices are needed to move us forward.  Sororities, civic groups and legacy Black women's groups have already been invited.

Leah Daughtry appeals to the Black women in Atlanta to come out and support their conference.  They are working with Mayor Keisha Lance-Bottoms' office and looking for volunteers.

She emphasizes that the conference will end with an agenda that African American women can leave and implement in their communities.
