The Local Take: National Museum of African American Music with CAU Grad Dionne Lucas

Saturday morning at 8am on WCLK's The Local Take, I talked with Dionne Lucas, Director, Marketing and Communications with the National Museum of African American Music.  The museum located in Nashville is set to open in Summer 2020.

Ms. Lucas, a graduate of Clark Atlanta University, shares that the museum is in the process of collecting memorabilia. Their team has been visiting living legends collecting items that will be on exhibition.

The idea for the museum started with the Nashville Chamber of Commerce. Known worldwide as "Music City," Nashville makes sense to house a museum exploring and education the public about the many influences that began in the African American music from classical jazz to hip hop.

Ms. Lucas invited listeners who may have items in their family collection to get in touch with the museum. They are collecting concert posters, costumes, music and other collectors items that portray the history of our music.
