Jazz Tones Live At Piedmont Park Sunday May 29 * Highlights Eugenie Jones

Savvy Atlanta Jazz fans are looking forward to the sharp rhythm instincts and engaging vocals of Eugenie Jones at the Atlanta Jazz Festival, Main Stage on Sunday May 29,  3:00 PM.  Jones is a West Virginia native now based in Seattle, WA.   She's a vocalist and songwriter who is a latecomer to the Jazz scene. She is an Earshot Jazz Golden Year Award-winner.  Eugenie's first release Black Lace Blue Tears was "full of  passion and raw emotion" as stated by Critical Jazz.   Her sophomore release "Come Out Swinging" shows she can pen melodies and lyrics that are in tune with the Jazz idiom.   However what distinguishes her is that there are very few African American female singer-songwriters in Jazz today.   In my previous interview with Eugenie she expressed her commitment to lyrics and compositions that express her feelings.

Drop by to say hello to me at the Jazz 91.9 WCLK tent Sunday afternoon as WCLK broadcasts live from the 39th Atlanta Jazz Festival at Piedmont Park.
