Jazz 91.9 WCLK Remembers Toots Thielemans 1922 - 2016

Jazz 91.9 WCLK remembers the wide-ranging music of harmonica great Toots Thielemans, who passed away Monday, August 22 at the age of 94.  His was a singular talent on the harmonica which was not obviously a Jazz instrument.  Thielemans made his mark with a chromatic harmonica played in the style of his late 1940s inspirations, Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie.  He's best known to millions around the world for his work in major film soundtracks and television in the 1960s - 70s, in particular the themes and soundtracks to Midnight Cowboy and Sesame Street.   WCLK has played Toots' music since our beginnings, and this week WCLK has been featuring his work on many Quincy Jones cuts, including I Never Told you from Walking In Space.
