Faith Carmichael performing at The Velvet Note

Join WCLK's Jamal Ahmad tomorrow night for "Friday Jazz at the High." June features the sounds of vocalist Faith Carmichael who blends jazz, soul, and folk to create a unique sound.  Attendees will also get a chance to see the Andy Warhol: Prints from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation, now through September 3, 2017.

The High Museum of Art is the exclusive East Coast venue for this sweeping retrospective featuring more than 250 prints and ephemera by Andy Warhol (American, 1928–1987). This comprehensive show is the largest exhibition of its kind and includes such iconic screenprint portfolios as “Marilyn Monroe” (1967), “Campbell’s Soup I” (1968), “Electric Chair” (1971), and “Mao” (1972). The works are drawn exclusively from the collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and the Jordan Schnitzer Family Foundation in Portland, Oregon. Remarkable for their nearly exhaustive range, the Schnitzer Collections offer an unparalleled opportunity to explore the breadth of Warhol’s influential graphic production over the course of four decades. The artist’s fascination with the commodification of celebrity chronicles American popular culture of the second half of the 20th century and serves as a prelude for considering our current fame-obsessed, media-saturated culture.

"Friday Jazz" takes place every third Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the High’s atrium and is hosted by Jamal Ahmad! Music, drinks, art—no matter the month, every "Friday Jazz" offers a great lineup featuring different styles of jazz, from straight ahead to free jazz, bebop to swing, and more.

Listen to his interview with Carmichael below as she talks about her music and much more.
