Jason Orr, creator of the FunkJazz Kafé is celebrating 25 years of this Atlanta tradition on Saturday, August 10 at 8 p.m. at the Tabernacle. This amalgamation of art, music, poetry, dance and unforgettable live performances has featured some of the biggest and brightest talents in entertainment including Erykah Badu, India.Arie, Avery*Sunshine, Bilal, Omar, Maxwell, Soul II Soul, and Dionne Farris.
"This will be a monumental FunkJazz Kafé Arts & Music Festival as we celebrate our 25th year! We extend our gratitude to those who've supported our festival and award-winning documentary film nationally and internationally for over two decades. With our dedicated support for cultural preservation, free expression and creativity, we've maintained a historical legacy of setting the stage for what's soulful, authentic, funky, next and cool in multiple artistic disciplines."
I got a chance to chat with Jason this week for UPFRONT where he talked about the future of the brand, his new film projects and so much more.
