ATLANTA, GA (July 21, 2020) – Jazz 91.9 WCLK joins Atlanta’s Black Radio stations in partnership with the Atlanta Urban League in the Black Radio United for the Vote campaign. Black Radio United for the Vote common goals focus on voter registration, voter education and voter mobilization in advance of the November 2020 election.
After Atlanta made national news regarding voter suppression during the past primary election, several Black Radio Program Directors in the Atlanta market convened to discuss how they could create positive changes as they look toward the future. The group created Black Radio United For The Vote.
The goal of Black Radio United For The Vote is to register Black voters across Greater Atlanta and to get them to the polls in the coming election on November 3. The goal of the campaign is also to encourage participation in the 2020 Census. Each month through September, beginning on July 23, Jazz 91.9 WCLK along with participating radio stations will dedicate a full day of on-air programming to educate, inform and, inspire Atlanta’s Black community to register to vote, check their current registration status and participate in the 2020 Census.
The following is a programming schedule of interviews that will take place on Thursday, July 23, with community partners regarding frequently asked questions about voter registration and the United States Census:
