This week on The Local Take I talk about the Essence Entrepreneur Summit and Holiday Market with Marquita Harris. Ms. Harris is a senior editor at ESSENCE Magazine and she explains that this event is in support of the large number of African-American women who have started their own firms.
According to a recent study the number of firms owned by African American women grew 164%. I ask Ms. Harris to explain the ESSENCE NEW VOICES PITCH Competition and who should enter. She explains that all women business owners, those who have just started or those that are established but could use an influx of capitol should all enter the competition and participate in the conference. In addition to the entrepreneur conference, business owners are also invited to participate in the ESSENCE Holiday market taking place on December 13 th at West End Production Park, 713 Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard.
